Tentative Trip Schedule (December 2011 - May 2012)

December 2011

Wed. Dec. 28 = Service Learning trip to Wolfeboro Food Pantry, 10:00 – 1:30, for Carroll County participants.  See trip announcement for details.

 

Thurs. Dec. 29 = Service Learning trip to Salvation Army soup kitchen and homeless shelter in Laconia, 10:00 – 3:30, Belknap County participants.  See trip announcement for details.

January 2012

Sun. Jan. 15 = Dr. Martin Luther King Celebration/ service learning opportunity to welcome refugees to the Lakes Region, 3:00 – 7:30, Laconia Middle School.  See trip announcement for details. 

 

Sat. Jan. 21 = Winter Adventure Day Trip = Staff will take participants snow shoeing on the Wolfeboro rail trail and we’ll build a snow cave.  Afterwards, we’ll warm up in the office with homemade hot cocoa, eat popcorn, and watch a movie; time to be determined, location will be at AMTP office and Wolfeboro rail trail.  Trip announcement and permission form available by Dec. 29.

 

February 2012

We have no trips scheduled in February because we had 2 trips in January and we have 3 trips scheduled for March.  Please note that we rescehduled Family Skate Night for Saturday March 17.

March 2012

 

Thurs. March 1 (winter break for all participants) = Tour New Hampshire Technical Institute (future explorations trip), 12:30 - 3:00

 

Sun. March 4 = Final prep day for NHEA presentation (only for presenters), 2:00 – 5:00 at Kim’s house

 

Wed. March 7 = Dress rehearsal/ run through of NHEA presentation for AMTP staff, board members, parents, and AMTP participants that want to support us, somewhere in Wolfeboro, around 6:00 – 8:00

 

Thurs. March 15  = NE Educator’s Association Presentation at New Hampshire Technical Institute (for AMTP presenters)

*Sat. March 17 = Family Skate Night, Wolfeboro Ice Arena, 4:00 - 7:30

April 2012

 

Tues. April 24 (during spring break for all teens) (tentative) = Sustainable Home and Yard Makeover – a service learning cooperative project with GALA, AMTP participants and GALA staff and volunteers will work together to install a clothesline, solar heating for hot water installation, raised bed gardens, composting, rain collection barrel, and zero carbon yard maintenance at a home to promote sustainable living.  Teens will also tour the GALA facility and learn how to make juice with a bicycle.

May 2012

 

Sat. May 19 = Hike Mt. Morgan and Mt. Perceval loop trail in the Squam Mountains in Holderness, 5.75 miles total, 1,452 feet elevation gain, we’ll also explore the caves

After School Groups

 

A. AMTP After School Program for Kingswood Middle and High School students

  • Nate and Katie will lead all of the after school activities at Kingswood. 
  • After school group for Kingswood schools will take place from 2:30 – 4:30.  Participants will ride the Kingswood late bus home after the activities.
  • These group meetings at Kingswood schools will involve students discussing current personal issues to receive peer support as well as themed discussions. The after school sessions will also provide activities such as orienteering class, outdoor games and initiatives, AMTP leadership program directed at participants designing and running upcoming AMTP trips.
  • Kingswood schools after school groups will take place at Kingswood High School and shall include participants from both the middle and high school.  Nate has already obtained permission from Kingswood school administrators to facilitate these group meetings. 
  • Dates for the Kingswood after school program are: Dec. 15, Jan. 12, Jan. 26, Feb. 9, Feb. 23, March 15, March 29, April 12, May 3, May 17, May 31, and June 14.

 B. AMTP After School Program for Alton Central School and Prospect Mountain Students

  • Nate and Katie will lead all of the after school activities in Alton.  The late bus will bring all of the teens home that live in Alton and Nate and Katie will drive Barnstead participants home that need a ride.
  • After school group for Alton students will take place from 3:30 – 4:30. 
  • These group meetings in Alton will involve students discussing current personal issues to receive peer support as well as themed discussions. The after school sessions will also provide activities such as orienteering class, outdoor games and initiatives, AMTP leadership program directed at participants designing and running upcoming AMTP trips.
  • Alton schools after school groups will take place at Prospect Mountain High School and shall include participants from both Alton Central School and Prospect Mountain High School.  Nate has already obtained permission from Prospect Mountain High School administrators to facilitate these group meetings.  Nate and Katie will transport the participant from Alton Central School to Prospect Mountain High School.
  • Dates for the Alton after school program are: Feb. 2, Feb. 16, March 8, March 22, April 5, April 19, May 10, May 24, and June 7.

C. AMTP After School Program for Laconia Middle School, Laconia High School, and Gilford High School

  • Ray and Katie will lead all of the after school activities for Laconia and Gilford.  Ray and Katie will transport Laconia High School students from Laconia High School to Laconia Middle School.  They will also drive Laconia students without rides home after the groups. 
  • After school group for Laconia and Gilford students will take place from 2:30 – 4:00.
  • These group meetings in Laconia will involve students discussing current personal issues to receive peer support as well as themed discussions. The after school sessions will also provide activities such as orienteering class, outdoor games and initiatives, snow-shoeing, ice safety when crossing a lake, AMTP leadership program directed at participants designing and running upcoming AMTP trips.
  • All after school groups for AMTP participants at Laconia High School, Laconia Middle School, and Gilford High School will take place at Laconia Middle School. 
  • Dates for the Laconia/ Gilford after school program are: Dec. 19, Jan. 9, Jan. 23, Feb. 13, March 5, March 19, April 2, April 16, May 7, and May 21. 
  • On Jan. 9 the after school group will visit the Laconia fire department to learn about ice safety.
  • On Feb. 13 the after school program will go snow shoeing in the park next the Laconia Middle School.
